Isn’t this a comical picture of me? It reminds me of a very unusual dream I had several years ago, and I’d like to share it with you as I embark on an Intercessory Prayer Adventure.
Here’s the dream…..
I am living my little life like an ordinary girl in a small town in the good old state of North Carolina, but suddenly I receive a draft notice from the President of the United States.
This must be a BIG MISTAKE!
I try to calmly present my case against this letter…
-Don’t you know that I am a woman?
-When did you start drafting women in the army?
-Do you know how old I am?
-I really think you have the wrong person.
I can’t believe this is happening, but every time I ask more questions, the only answer is receive is…. “Are you Barbara Koob? Your number has been called up and you will go.” UGH!
There appears to be no way that I can weasel my way out. Before I can attempt to stop this process, I am dressed in army gear, given a rifle and sent to boot camp.
“OH NO! NOOOOOOO!”
I wake up and wonder what that was all about.
Of course, I thought this dream was just my crazy imagination running wild; however, I found an explanation when I attended a special church service that Friday night. The Pastor gave this prophetic word, “There is someone here who God speaks to in dreams. Please come up and let me pray for you.”
Was he talking about moi?
I waited in my seat for a little while, and then daringly staggered to the front. That pastor prayed that God would use me as an intercessory prayer warrior for His purposes. As he was praying, I remembered that dream and thought…. that was what that dream was about! When we pray, we are doing spiritual warfare against the powers of darkness. Our Spirit-led prayers are like shooting a gun where the bullets directly hit the Satan’s camp to destroy the works of enemy.
Finally I understood. God was calling me into His army to break the powers of darkness everywhere I went. He was sending me to His boot camp, to be trained in prayer and ready to act.
And now… I am actually going on my first intercessory prayer trip. It will be to Israel, and I will be learning how to do strategic intercessory prayer. Friends, this trip is not a coincidence. It’s been part of God’s plan for me all along, and I am so excited.
I will be posting more about intercessory prayer in the weeks to come as I believe God is waking up many men and women of God to pray and receive training to do spiritual warfare for such a time as this. If you think you can’t do this, I want to encourage you.
YES, you can, and we can start learning together.
