There’s Always More With God

Are you kidding? It’s 11:30PM.
That was my exact thought as a few ladies and I were relaxing in this luxurious hot tub. We spent Friday night and all day Saturday at this glorious God-inspired retreat, but from out of nowhere, this girlfriend appears and pleads with me to come to her room and pray.
“You can’t possibly be serious?” I explained to her. “We already had a powerful teaching and ministry time.”
However, that gal didn’t only ask me. She asked all of the ladies in our small group to pray. God had been knitting our hearts together for several months, and apparently He had more….. MUCH MORE.
And so, I reluctantly tromped into her room in my wet bathing suit, and arrived with some others dressed in their pajamas. Honestly, we weren’t thinking; someone called and we came. Funny that none of us knew or understood what God was about to do.
First, we prayed for those who wanted to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. Next, we prayed for some other prayer requests that people had. Then suddenly, God started giving gifts… tongues, prophetic words, and more of His Spirit. Most of us had never encountered anything like this before. Just like the book of Acts describes; God’s spirit was poured out on our flesh. (Acts 2:16-21)
It wasn’t until after our prayer time that we realized that God had orchestrated a personal Upper Room experience, as that gal’s room was on the highest floor of the hotel. That evening we met the real Jesus. The Holy Spirit transformed us and we were…. ReDefined. (Ephesians 1:18)
It’s not a coincidence that the enemy did not want this gal, the one who initiated everyone to come to her room to pray, to attend the retreat. For weeks, she reiterated to me, “Barb, I am not going. No way!”
Afraid of the commitment, complaining she didn’t have the money, fearful of opening her heart, she used every excuse she could to say why she couldn’t go. I had encouraged her numerous times to reconsider her decision, but it wasn’t until her mother-in-law finally stuck her nose in that girl’s business that it changed her tune.
“Tammy,” she declared, “just suck it up and go.”
Who knew that those words would be the impetus to propel Tammy to sign up? I can’t help but wonder what might have happened if Tammy had not joined us for this blessed event…. for God used her to reveal what is the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. (Ephesians 1:18)
If you are dragging your feet about why you should go on the retreat, what can I say to convince you?
- You will have a great weekend away in the beautiful N.C. mountains.
- You will meet many new friends, even reconnect with some old ones.
- You will experience God, and He will do something special just for you.
- You may be the one He uses on this retreat to inspire others.
- If you really want to go, God will provide the monies. So why not ask Him now and believe?
- Or just suck it up? Because you know God wants you to go!
Every time I go to a Women’s Retreat, hungry to receive from Him, He shows me how much He loves me. He does more than I can ask or imagine….. for THERE IS ALWAYS MORE WITH GOD. (Ephesians 3:14-21)
And so, I don’t want to miss one blessed thing that He has for me. How about you?
