I just told you about an intriguing dream of a stolen purse that revealed my need for healing and deliverance. But why did those thieves find only $6 in my belongings? Was that all I was worth?
Below are some clues that solved this mystery:
- My stolen purse revealed the “the treasure of me” that was stolen for His purposes – my personal identify and self-worth.
- The $6 represented my “value to man”. Obviously dollars have value as paper currency. Here the number 6 is the number of man. Or to put it another way, my value and self worth was established in man’s system. Not God’s!
Once I understood this interpretation, it makes perfect sense – for I am guilty of performance based behavior. I have been constantly striving for man-made accomplishments whether it was a college degree with honors, a career with a high powered position and big salary, or anything else with trophy credentials. Woefully, my secret-self wanted to validate my worth to men. Through this dream and other God ordained situations, I finally saw my true-self. How do I know this? I prayed and asked God, and He revealed it to me.
Yet, that is not how God saw me. While He viewed my faulty foundation based on the approval of man with displeasure, He wanted to deliver me. For He loved me – wanting to heal me and make me whole. How shocking to discover that the lonely and scared Singular Ruth person in my dream was actually ME! In fact, most of the time your dreams are about you!
When I investigated the name Singular Ruth, I found the word singular to mean extraordinary, unique and the only one of its kind. I found a biblical woman named Ruth who was compassionate, faithful and courageous to overcome tragedy and shine with God’s light. How incredible that God would pick such a name to describe me – an ordinary woman. Plus, He showed me in my dream that there were many other women who needed healing – and He also called them Singular Ruth. Hmm…..
I simply needed to ask for God’s help and cooperate with His plans. Once I did, He came with refreshing waves of His spirit pouring out love, mercy and grace. I am learning that it is not what I do or what I have accomplished that is important. Rather it is who I am IN CHRIST and what He accomplished on the cross – for He loves me and you with an unconditional love.
Like Ruth who came from the Moabite tribe, I came from a family who unknowingly passed down curses through the generations. However, I don’t have to stay trapped in those “people pleasing works”. I can triumph IN CHRIST by taking each day one healing step at a time with Him. For that is what this dream was all about – knowing my worth IN HIM.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
So are you a Singular Ruth too? What a revelation of rest to my soul!
Is it because of what you do? Or WHO YOU ARE?
