What would you say to a dream about a stolen purse? If you knew that was my dream, you’d probably say that makes sense. Afterall, my purse was stolen. But what if this dream had a different meaning?
That’s exactly how dreams work – for God takes a situation in your life and then speaks something very important to catch your attention. Here’s a great example from one of my personal God inspired dreams:
“I was on my way down the mountain to this city of sin – Las Vegas. It was a treacherous path, but I arrived safely only to be found amidst some thieves who mysteriously stole my purse and all its contents. I was so upset when I discovered that my belongings were missing. So helpless was I, that I didn’t even know where to begin to recover these stolen goods. UGH!
Next thing I know, I meet a gal named ‘Singular Ruth’ who helps me. She is very lonely and scared, but we quickly become good friends. It is she who knows exactly where my stolen purse and its contents might be found. Surprizingly she takes me right to the place where I am able to recover everything that was stolen.
As I see those thieves again, I hear them say, “Oh, we thought you were worth more than that! You only had $6.”
Thank God for Singular Ruth – for she helped me recover my stolen goods. Then, I suddenly see that there is not just one Singular Ruth – but many Singular Ruths.” I wake up.
While I was puzzled about many things, I asked God for the interpretation as I tucked this dream in my heart. Soon afterwards, I discovered this interesting scripture in Acts 28:26-27. It says,
‘ Go to this people and say:
“ Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand;
And seeing you will see, and not perceive;
27 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.” ’
Apparently, this dream indicated my need for personal healing and deliverance, but I would have to recognize this revelation and cooperate with what God wanted to do in my life. Prior to this point, it had never occurred to me that I even had a problem. God always wants to heal us – but we must turn our hearts towards Him so we can understand and obey what He is saying. How did I miss this most important principle of healing for so long??!
So can you figure out what healing God wanted to do in my life? The answer lies in the symbolism of the stolen purse and its contents? And why was there just $6 missing? And who was this person Singular Ruth? Do you know?
Go ahead – make your best educated guess… And I’ll tell you the answer in my next blog. ;-D
