With the summer deep upon us, I’d like to share about a good time I had years ago…
It’s about renting a hot tub.
One weekend my husband and I flew to NY to visit my parents. On that Saturday afternoon, my siblings and this kids joined us for a cookout by the pool, and my mom actually rented a hot tub for a little family fun. At the time, it wasn’t that expensive, but did you even know you could do such a thing?
It was a big plastic tub that could hold about four persons. We just filled it up with water, turned on the heater and the jets, and hopped right in. It was that easy!
One, two, three, four adults….
But soon we had five, six, seven kids with grassy muddy feet….
Water gushed onto the patio because there were too many people.
More family jumped in and the water started to turn a little cloudy.
People were too close for comfort, but it didn’t matter. We’re all kin.
It was a family frenzy of epidemic proportions.
And so, we dumped the water out and did it again, laughing and enjoying the closeness of family.
So many times I am tempted to dwell on the past, the difficult times I’ve had with my family. But everyone and their family have some type of dysfunctions. No one is perfect, and no one will ever be perfect.
And so, when people ask me about my family, I decided to say something good. I don’t talk about all the negative entanglements, I just say, “My family is colorful.”
That’s my code word for not always normal, but always ready for a good time.
So if you are looking for some fun this summer, why not Google “Rent a Hot Tub” today?
Beautifully Made Friends,
I’ve seen it written that renting a hot tub is better than a vacation.
Let’s find things to do that will make us happy and do them with friends and family.
If you decide to Rent-A-Hot-Tub this summer,
would you please invite me?
