Are you ready to fly in 2018? Have you ever dreamed that you could fly? Or maybe that you couldn’t fly? Since the beginning of time, men have dreamed of how they could sail through the sky like the birds. They invented various winged contraptions attempting to soar through the air. But it wasn’t until that first famed flight in 1903 that Wilbur and Orville Wright made this dream a reality.
How did they accomplish such a feat when so many before them tried and failed? The explanation lies with how these two brothers recognized that they must overcome these three obstacles:
- Their plane needed to overcome gravity, to lift up into the air and stay a flight.
- Once in the sky, the pilot needed to be able to control and safely maneuver the aircraft in any direction.
- And finally, the plane must be able to land safely at a precise desired location.
Furthermore and most importantly, they had FAITH that it was possible. They believed God, that they could surmount these challenges being confident that man could, indeed fly.
Have you been waiting for your breakthrough? Do you yearn to come up higher with God? I sure do, and I have dreamed of these things for the last several years. I believe that we all can fly with God in a similar way that the Wright brothers learned to fly, but we must be confident that in God we can overcome every obstacle. We need His love, hope and ability to dream for our future.
We can lift off with God’s love. We need to know who our Heavenly Father is and His great love for us and others.
Mark 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Once in the air, we must remember to always steer in the direction of hope. Regardless of our present situation, we must choose to hope in things unseen and take steps forward trusting that God in His grace will direct our path working everything for our good.
1 Peter 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
And finally, we need to prepare for landing our dream with purpose. We must believe that God has a purpose for our lives and be willing to surrender our all so that His good plans will come to pass here on earth.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Are you ready to fly this new year? In the last 12 months, I learned that while you can work hard for God, but it’s not always Him working. While it seemed like my writing plans do not take-off, God was giving me the rest I so desperately needed, Sometimes we just need to trust Him, knowing He can do what we cannot, that He will work everything out, even the seemingly bad stuff, for His good purposes. And of course, we can choose to have faith in God through this process!
As I have been waiting on God, I’ve been thinking about His love for me and others, and the hopes and dreams I continue to have in my heart for my life. This year, I am hoping to start writing more regularly with some new ideas that have been mulling around in my head for quite some time. I will be blogging to fly with God, to LOVE, HOPE and DREAM with purpose. I hope to test a book idea with these thoughts, and hope you will join me.
Wishing you a happy blessed New Year!
