Welcome Beautifully-Made friends to my new series “Prayers for My Soul”! Since I am facilitating a devotional study called “Prayers for a Woman’s Soul” by Julie Gillies with some girlfriends at church, I thought I’d write about what I am learning each Friday.
For this week Julie’s topics “My God Hears Me” and “My Attitude” were my inspiration. And so, I thought I’d share about something from my past that I’m not so proud of… my stinky attitude and bad behavior.
Now I am sure that none of you good Christian gals would act this way, but there was a time when I was so frustrated with my job, my husband’s lack of a good job and our horrendous financial situation that I decided to let God know that I was angry.
I had H.A.D IT.
So I stormed outside my house, and using the creative imagination that God gifted me with, I hurled a pretend rock into the sky to get His attention. (Hope none of my neighbors were looking because I really did do this!) With all my strength, I hurled that rock as far as I could hoping to reach the heavens that He might notice me. Afterall, I was serving Him, and He shouldn’t allow those types of circumstances to for His sweet little Barbie-girl.
Did you know that God has a sense of humor?
I imagined that my rock would reach Him and maybe even hit Him in the eye, but He gave me quite a different visual.
Every time I threw a rock at Him, it immediately came plopping down right on top of me. In fact, the more rocks I flung, the more I was getting smacked right back.
Did you ever want to reach heaven’s gate for an answer to your problems n.o.w.? You can, but it’s not with your ideas of how things should work.
We must do things God’s way.
God did, indeed, hear me that day, but He was not going to reward my little tantrum. He just waited until I was ready to change my attitude and ask for His forgiveness.
-When I surrendered my work, He totally changed my situation. I learned to do the best job I could with a smile on my face. While I didn’t want to, I chose to. It was my way of showing Him that I loved Him.
– God brought my husband a great job. It took few years of praying and believing, but He took care of that too.
– He even delivered us from our debts by disciplining our daily walk with good choices and wisdom.
Although the truth is that God hears us all the time, don’t you think P.R.A.I.S.E. works better?
Thank You God that You always hear me.
