As 2011 comes to a close, what comes to your mind?
I’m thinking FIREWORKS.
All over the world people celebrate the New Year. Many will even use fireworks to create the most wonderful displays of color and sounds as they party away to a ticking clock. With a toast of champagne and maybe some new year’s resolutions, hopes and dreams continue for the future.
We’ve had several memorable New Year’s experiences. How about you?
For a few years we went to Myrtle Beach as our children attended the Ripley’s New Year’s “Sleep with the Sharks”. Other years we attended Raleigh’s First night. And on two separate occasions we rang in the New Year with friends in western Europe with FIREWORKS in their backyard and all around town – all night long! It was an amazing experience.
So that got me thinking about a God encounter I had concerning fireworks.
One evening I went to a healing service and received prayer at a catholic church. Although it appeared nothing happened, that night I had a suddenly.
I was sleeping when suddenly I supernaturally saw into the spirit realm through what seemed like a small pinhole. All at once, a force of fireworks rivoted through this little opening. Beautiful streams of explosive colors shot up into my bedroom ceiling and peacefully flowed down into my room. WOW!
I can’t explain it. I know that it has nothing to do with my maturity as a Christian or my character within. I’m not sure I can say what it really meant. But it was a God experience! And I think it was prophetic proclamation of what was to come in my life.
Over the years God has allowed personal FIRES in my life so He can finish His WORK in me. While I hate the fires, the sufferings, the trials, the inconveniences, the uncomfortable changes, I love the finished product.
Do you have any fireworks in your life? Like that healing prayer service, sometimes it seems like nothing happened. Sometimes it seems like things will never change. But that’s not true!
God loves you. God is there for you. God is helping you. HE IS JUST MAKING SOME BEAUTIFUL FIREWORKS.
So this New Year, wherever you are in life, whatever problems you may have…..
The God of gods—it’s God!—speaks out, shouts, “Earth!”
welcomes the sun in the east,
farewells the disappearing sun in the west.
From the dazzle of Zion,
God blazes into view.
Our God makes his entrance,
he’s not shy in his coming.
Starbursts of fireworks precede him. Psalm 50:1-3 (The Message)
Wishing you a blessed 2012.
