Do you know that you and God can have a two-way conversation in a dream?
Read Acts 10:9-15.
9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean. 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”
Please note that while this example is a vision, dreams are just like visions, except that they occur in your sleep. Therefore, they should be interpreted and tested in the same manner.
Undoubtedly, God was talking to Peter in the above passage; however, you can clearly see that Peter engaged in the conversation too.
In other words, Peter gave God a piece of his mind in his dream!
How cool is it to know that… our kind Heavenly Father God allows you and me to tell Him our thoughts, even in our dreams. However, if we are wise, we will heed His words.
Recently, I experienced a two-way conversational dream while on a Hope Chapel Ladies Retreat. It went something like this:
I dreamt that I suddenly started crocheting all kinds of unusual things, just like my Grandma use to do. Literally, I became this human crocheting-machine creating craft after craft.
I thought why would I waste my time doing such a thing? As I continued crocheting, I made a few items that turned out absolutely fantastic, but still I found myself speaking back to God. (Imagine that people?! )
“God, don’t you remember how my Grandmother tried to teach me crocheting when I was little, and how it was so frustrating for both of us.”
“God, all the people I know crochet with their right hand. You know I am an off-kilter, left-handed girl.”
“God, I don’t want to crochet. I just don’t want to DO THAT! “
Finally, after battling with God over this topic, I awoke from this crazy crocheting dream.
As soon as I returned home from that trip, I immediately obeyed God and visited the nearest craft store. I found the perfect book too, Crocheting For Dummies and purchased it along with just the right amount of yarn that I need to make my new project.
And look what I made all by my little lonesome self!
It only took me a few minutes to select this simple project, and magically through the power of the Holy Spirit, I made these beauties in less than one hour. That gave me the rest of the day to put them on my little footsies, and romp through my neighbor’s green pastures and discreetly take this wonderful picture.
I never knew my feet and lower legs could look this good?! Plus, I discovered that these handsome socks wash up like new; therefore, I could easily give them away as a gift.
So if you’d like a pair of these gorgeous handmade socks too, just click here ….to purchase them, as they can be shipped right to your door all the way from Bulgaria. (Haha!)
These socks will probably cost you more that I could make them for, but you might do better buying them rather than waiting for me to learn how to make them.
For the truth is that I had to listen to God’s instructions, and take one step at a time to learn how to crochet… even if it wasn’t what I wanted to do.
Like Peter and his God-vision, I did talk back to God in my dream, but I also knew that He had something good for me with regards to learning this craft. Although I didn’t understand why, I knew He would lead me in learning how.
And so, He did.
A-N-D, He will lead you in whatever assignment that He has for you too!
Stay tuned for the rest of my crocheting adventure, as it gets better.
In the meantime, I’d love to hear back from you.
Has God ever prompted you to do something you didn’t want to do? Did He use a dream to speak to you about it? What was your response?
