My dear missionary friend Lindy Bravo of WhereSoEver Ministries has blessed me with permission to share her beautiful poem this holiday season. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Please send me some very nice clothes
for Mozambique to take to all those
who do not have anything pretty to wear,
or for the men who could do with a very fine pair
of nearly new trousers without any tears.
Dear Jesus please send me some Bibles to read
as our Bread of Life they also will feed.
We need them translated so they’ll understand
plus concordances, Bible studies, whatever’s at hand.
There’s many now know you in this precious land.
Dear Jesus do send me some vitamins please
they don’t have enough food and this would just ease
the lack of essentials where they snivel and sneeze,
they cough and their eyes run with some strange disease.
Dear Jesus please send me some microphones too
so we can be heard over the zoo
(of excitement and noise when we tell them of you).
They love all the singing so please see us through
with music equipment to give You your due.
4am they’re up praying and loving on You.
Dear Jesus please send us some shelter from rain
or blazing hot sun, and some seats for the lame.
They’ve made many bricks to build all the walls
but we’re needing to help with the roof and the doors.
You’ve seen what that mud’s like whenever it pours.
Dear Jesus please send us another strong car
You know how the roads are and we need to go far,
deep into the African bush where you send
us to find people who need You to mend,
their lives and their families, their village and friends.
Dear Jesus we’re amazed at all You have done,
Your loving, Your caring, the hard work and fun!
Please call forth more prayers from those on their knees.
Please stretch forth more hands to give to all these
and help us continue to GO where You please.
Dear Jesus you said ‘ask’ so I’m asking you see.
It’s for lots of others, it’s not for just me.
It’s time for a new church in Macedonia too,
I’ve waited so long for that wonderful news.
That email sent joy through the roof with its truths.
And Jesus that excitement is spreading so wide.
Cuba has a house for the youth we could buy.
A church could be growing
— seeds they’d be sowing
— a harvest for mowing
— oh, wow, we are growing
— HOLY SPIRIT is blowing
— and we are still GOing
— and going
— and going
I met Lindy and her husband Danny Bravo in 1998. Over the last ten years, I have had the privilege of partnering with their ministry and watching God’s amazing handiwork unfold to various places and countries around the world – to GO wheresoever the Lord sends, and do whatever He requires… praying, worshipping, teaching, evangelizing, preaching, and discipling.
Today WhereSoEver hosts an array of activities around the globe to change people’s lives forever. They might be out there in the field, but we can stand with them. If we do, every salvation and every new church plans is part of our harvest too.
24 Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.” 25 David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this. I Samuel 30:24-25
Thanks for joining me in support of WhereSoEver Ministries.
