Have you ever heard of Ann Voskamp? I had the privilege of hearing Ann at the Proverbs31 SheSpeaks 2011 conference. She masterfully crafts her thoughts into the most beautiful lyrical words. Oh, I wish you could have heard her speak….
My words are incapable of describing the depth of this heart-wrenching farmer’s wife who challenges us to imitate Christ’s thankfulness. As a child, she and her mother watched as her sister was crushed under a truck. “Ann does not grin through the pain but battles to believe that in God is joy, and that there are as many gifts amid the grittiness of life as in the moments of celebration.”
Her book One Thousand Gifts dares us to live fully right where we are by slowing down and savoring life with gratitude – even through the dullness and hurts of life. I hope you’ll read the first chapter of her book, as it’s quite a story.
The book was on the New York Times Best Seller List for 14 weeks. It sold out at SheSpeaks! I can’t wait to read it – so I have to order it online now. It’s a must read.
P.S. I also hope you’ll visit Ann’s blog A Holy Experience. It’s amazing.
